Mr. Ahmed works as a Consultant and Senior Lecturer in Surgery at Imperial College London as well as running a private practice on Harley Street and at the Cromwell Hospital. To date he has researched and published on many areas of weight loss and obesity. Mr. Ahmed heads up the Department of Bariatrics at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, which has contributed to his experience at dealing with some of the most complex cases in the UK. Despite carrying out this challenging work, Mr. Ahmed is respected for having amongst the best outcomes in the world and is often called to assist colleagues with their most challenging cases. He understands the needs of prospective parents and the prime importance of weight loss not just in aiding fertility treatments but also for benfiting future maternal and foetal outcomes. He has achieved quick weight loss results using a host of non-surgical options including lifestyle programmes, medication (including the latest “fat loss” weekly injection), the swallowable balloon and also other minimally invasive techniques.
He was recently elected, and now sits on, the British Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society council and also on the council of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Mr. Ahmed also provides Expert Medical Legal Advice to a number of solicitors and barristers involved in litigation in the field of weight loss.
He is also actively involved in weight loss research having undertaken a PhD degree at Imperial College London. He was recently awarded a NIHR EME grant for over £1,000,000 to study a novel weight loss treatment called ‘bariatric embolisation’ where the blood supply to certain parts of the stomach is reduced via an x-ray procedure leading to weight loss.
