Baydaa Abdulrahim

Consultant Fertility Specialists

Miss Baydaa Abdulrahim is consultant gynaecologist and an accredited sub-specialist in reproductive medicine and surgery. She is a full-time NHS consultant and Fertility Lead at Lister Hospital since June 2021.  Prior to that she was a full time NHS Consultant Gynaecologist at John Radcliff Oxford University Hospital.

Miss Abdulrahim graduated (MBChB) in 2003 from Baghdad Medical College, Iraq and then worked as a trainee doctor in obstetrics and Gynaecology in Qatar, Hamad medical Corporation and she was awarded Arab Board in Health Specialisation (ABoHS) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2010 before relocating to the UK. She successfully completed post-graduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from various district general and tertiary hospitals in the UK. She became a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) in 2013.

Miss Abdulrahim did two years of clinical research fellowship in Reproductive Medicine at Aberdeen Centre for Reproductive Medicine. She was awarded Master Degree (MSc) by University of Aberdeen for undertaking a scientific research with a particular focus on studying individuals and couples’ preferences to understand how they make their choice when they are faced with a conflicting scenario, focusing on evaluating couple’s preferences for fresh or elective frozen embryo transfer.

Miss Abdulrahim undertook two years RCOG-accredited sub-specialty Training in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery from Aberdeen Fertility Centre and Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. She has attended national and international meetings and conferences presenting her research work.

She offer a complete service to couples with fertility problems. She is an expert in all methods of assisted conception including in-vitro fertilization (IVF), intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), in-utero insemination (IUI), ovulation induction (OI), egg donation and fertility preservation. She believe that fertility treatment should be tailored to the individual needs of each patient. She is  a confident laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgeon and specialise in the surgical management of gynaecological conditions affecting fertility such as endometriosis, ovarian cysts, fibroids, tubal disease, endometrial polyps, pelvic and intra-uterine adhesions and uterine septum.

In addition to clinical practice and research interests, she  has extensive teaching, training and service development commitments. She is  a Member of Royal college of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Member of British Fertility Society and a Member of European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology
